RATS do cats

Performed as RATS entry in the annual Betchworth Festival.

The play is a touching look at the love between a working class couple who've been married for most of their lives but are now to be separated.

The twist comes in the fact that he has been dead for 11 years and now exists only in her mind. Nevertheless, to her he's real and the destruction of their house by the council and her relocation to flats out of town has a greater significance than a simple change in geography.

Gillian Pettifer played Lily, Michael Beach played Joe with Mary Gibson as the young social worker whose job it is to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
