.ASHES TO ASHES is a two-hander between husband and wife. Rebecca is haunted by her past, her conversation getting confused between what is real and what is memory. Devlin struggles to understand, and is emotionally unable to engage with his wife, speaking to her throughout the scene more as an interviewer with his interviewee or a psychiatrist with his patient than as a husband with his wife. As the play progresses, we find that Rebecca's darkest secret is yet to be revealed...

FAMILY VOICES, although originally written for the radio, this play has subsequently worked equally as well on stage. It is a letter between mother and son, but in the knowledge that no communication actually ever reaches the other. It is the portrayal of a family breaking down, where you learn as much from what is unsaid as from what is said. As with Ashes to Ashes,  Pinter looks at a breakdown in communication, and a breakdown in relationship..
